As per Mandarin's request, I thought it would be fun to talk about modernity outside of the books being read. I just finished a paper for a film and literature class with a focus on Modernism and cinema. The thesis focused on the degradation of the man through art reproduction. I used Brave New World and Walter Benjamin's "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" as pieces to focus on. The thing I love about humanities is that almost any subject can tie to another and I was really facinated as to how these ideas related to cinema and photography and communication. So, what do you all like to study from this time?
